Report ot 2007 MECHATROLINK Members Association General Meeting
The MECHATROLINK Members Association General Meeting was held at Kudan Kaikan in Tokyo, on May 28, 2007. Thanks to the pleasant weather, many members attended the meeting. The general meeting, lectures and reception were all very successful. The meeting started with a welcome speech by Hiroshi Ogasawara, the President of the Executive Committee of the MMA. Takeshi Tanaka, the General Secretary of the MMA, then reported on the "Results of Fiscal Year 2006 and the Plans for Fiscal Year 2007". This was followed by a financial report by Junichi Mizumoto of the MMA Secretariat. After a short break, the current status of MECHATROLINK-III development was reported, and this was followed by a speach on first-hand user experiences and a special lecture as well as new product presentations. A reception was held afterwards to provide members with a chance to get to know each other. The MMA will continue to promote its activities, in pursuit of making MECHATROLINK a defacto global standard.

The MECHATROLINK Members Association achieved the following objectives for fiscal year 2006
- 1) Increasing the number of member companies to 200
- 2) Opening overseas branch offices in four countries, namely Korea, China, the USA, and Germany
- 3) Obtaining certification for SEMI E54.19, sensor-actuator network (SAN) standard
The MMA continues to promote MECHATROLINK by participating in exhibitions and implementing promotional activities including the issuance of product catalogues and the MECHATROLINK News. We can confirm that MECHATROLINK has been steadily gaining both recognition and visibility.
In fiscal year 2007, the MMA plans to release MECHATROLINK-III, and to begin with its promotion as a world wide open network, as well as to host technical seminars in various countries.

The welcome speech was delivered by Hiroshi Ogasawara, the President of the Executive Committee of the MMA.

Report
"Current Status of MECHATROLINK-III Development and Future Schedule" was reported by Atsunobu Sakata of the MMA Secretariat.
Lecture by User
Mr. Takashi Kito of Sony Manufacturing Systems Corporation expressed his candid opinions as a user of MECHATROLINK and as an MMA member company representative. As a result of Sony's use of MECHATROLINK for their products, he said they could;
- easily develop highly upgraded versions of firmware based on accumulated company know-how in firmware development.
- streamline hardware and reduce wiring.
- He added that the strong support from another MMA member company also helped facilitate their development.

Special Lecture
Mr. Yoshitaka Ito, Manager of YARUDEA Laboratory, gave a speech titled "Change Yourself, Change Your Junior Staff, and Change Your Workplace!". He said that a positive comment is received by people better than a negative one, and that he himself quit smoking by using the term "graduating from smoking" instead of "smoking abstinence". This is a good example of the important role played by words in facilitating improvement.

Reception
The reception was a great success, and was joined by over eighty people, making it the best attended reception in the history of MMA general meetings.
Members exchanged information and, in their brief greeting speeches, expressed their hopes and desires for MECHATROLINK.
